Winston House offers its users an opportunity to deepen their appreciation of their own cultural traditions while observing first-hand the movements of people and commerce that are rapidly shaping a new global society. Located in Bedford Square—the oldest remaining complete Georgian garden square in the city—in historic Bloomsbury, Winston House also brings to mind the long tradition of literary, artistic, and educational activities for which London is famous. Convenient to the British Museum and Library and King’s College London, Winston House serves Carolina’s Honors program but is also open to students, faculty, alumni, and programs from across the University, from across the UNC system, and from partner institutions elsewhere. Possibilities for such users include but are not limited to:
- Academic conferences with European colleagues
- Alumni visits for enrichment activities
- Collaboration—between faculty and students, faculty and European colleagues, researchers and students or faculty and NGOs or other organizations based in London and Europe
- Meetings with international partners
- Classroom space for new or existing London programs
- Guest lectures and visits from London speakers, artists, and political leaders
- Receptions hosted by European alumni
