Winston House is approximately 4,400 square feet in size and includes three classrooms, two seminar rooms, two faculty offices or offices for administrative space, a library/administrative office, a student reading room with computer lab, a small kitchen, a patio garden, and a faculty residential suite consisting of two bedrooms, a living/dining room, a kitchen, and a bath.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ROOM DESCRIPTIONS AND FLOOR PLANS


LG-01 Media Room/Classroom

Outfitted with a plasma flat screen television, this comfortable room seats 35-40 at chairs with tablets. Windows face Bedford Square. Room dimensions: 24 feet by 18 feet.

LG-03 Arthur and Else Lindner Library and Reading Room
Comfortable, informal gathering space furnished with sofas and chairs, projection screen, television with VHS and DVD player, sound system, multimedia projector, printer stations, and a lap-top plug-in area. Room dimensions: main area 15 feet by 25 feet; printer area: 8 feet by 9 feet. The building's patio is just to the rear of this room and features cafe tables and chairs.


G-10 Peter and Elisabetta Mallinson Trust Classroom

Traditional classroom featuring period architectural elements seating 30 at chairs with tablets and plasma flat screen television. Room dimensions: 17 feet by 23 feet.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

G-11 Library/Administrative Offices

101 Peter T. and Laura M. Grauer Seminar Room
This seminar room overlooks Bedford Square and features exquisite Georgian architectural details, seats up to 55 at chairs with tablets, and may be converted to a seminar room, board room, meeting room, or reception space. Outfitted with leading edge video conferencing equipment and plasma flat screen television, this room also supports lectures and connections to partners across Europe and beyond. SmartBoard equipped. Room dimensions: 25 feet by 19 feet.

This room may be combined with Room 102 for a larger reception or meeting.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

102 Robert M. Lowery and Alan R. Pike Classroom
This beautifully appointed seminar room seats 30 at chairs with tablets and features Georgian architectural details. This room is suitable for traditional classes, seminars, meetings, and small receptions. SmartBoard equipped. Room dimensions: 17 feet by 23 feet.

102 may be combined with Room 101 for a large reception or meeting.


Room 201 Peter T. and Laura M. Grauer Honors Faculty Director's Office.

This shared office overlooks Bedford Square and offers one work station for a visiting program, and a work station for the program director of the London Honors Study program of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Room dimensions: 10 feet by 19 feet.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Room 202 Faculty Office or Administrative Space
This office overlooks Bedford Square and offers three work stations for visiting programs; these may be used individually or in combination. Room dimensions: 15 feet by 19 feet.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Room 203 Classroom
This charming living room style classroom features beautiful period detail and faces the British Museum. Furnished with sofas and chairs, it will accommodate a seminar group of 15 to 18 students. It is also the ideal place to hold a tea for students, to host a special guest for an intimate talk with a small group of students, to host a meal with students or meeting participants, or to meet one on one with a student or guest. Room dimensions: 16 feet by 16 feet.


This is the faculty or visitor's flat. Newly updated, as in the rest of the building, the 809 square foot flat may be rented by the week, the month, or the semester. The flat features a bedroom overlooking Bedford Square with a queen bed and fireplace, a second bedroom, also overlooking the Square, with twin beds that may be zipped together to create a king bed, a living and dining room with bay windows facing the British Museum and fireplace, a kitchen with stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. A newly renovated bath includes a large shower. A sleeper sofa in the living room provides additional sleeping space. The flat is serviced by a lift.
