Fall Honors Students Experience "Underground Berlin"

As well as studying and living in one of the most exciting and vibrant cities of the world, the Honors Semester in London provides students with a base to explore countries and cities across Europe and further afield.

The nine students enrolled in this fall’s Honors Semester in London program took a weekend trip to Berlin, Germany. As part of the ‘Birth of Cool’ class, lead by Professor Todd Taylor of the Department of English and Comparative Literature, the students visited the city for 3 days, taking part in organised trips to the Bauhaus Museum, the National Gallery and exploring the architecture of East Germany. “Everyone tells you how young and vibrant the city of Berlin has become since the fall of the wall, but there is no way to gauge what this means without truly experiencing it,” said Honors student, Evan Mitchell, “Life, passion, and excitement are in the air as you walk down the street: a truly incredible experience.”

The students also took an independent trip to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp just outside Berlin.
